On January 8, 2001, Wynton was invited at the Charlie Rose Show for a discussion about the documentary “Jazz”, with filmmaker Ken Burns. Wynton served as a senior creative consultant for the film.
The film, divided into a series of 10 episodes, tells the story of jazz music in America through individual musicians including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Thelonious Monk.

Wynton is in New Orleans today to shoot an episode for the third series of Iconoclasts with chef John Besh.
If you have the Sundance Channel, you might be familiar with the ‘Iconoclasts’ television series. The 60-minute show takes two innovators from different fields and brings them together to discuss their passions and creative processes.
The episode should be broadcasted on November 22, 2007, at 10 PM ET/PT. (more info to come…)

On June 20, Wynton appeared on “Tavis Smiley” to help promote his new CD, Congo Square. During the interview, Wynton and Tavis Smiley discussed Wynton’s passion for education as he is the co-founder and artistic director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Program. Wynton also talked about his new album. He described it as “We are rejoining with the spirit of African Music.”.

On April 26, Wynton participated in a Q&A session at Tribeca Film Festival, with the filmmakers of Chops, a documentary film directed by Bruce Broder that follows a Florida high school jazz band’s journey to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival.

On Saturday, March 10, Wynton was his quintet at CBS Studios to play some tracks from his new album: From the Plantation to the Penitentiary.
