This afternoon Wynton and the Quintet arrived in Marciac for the Jazz Festival 2007. This is the program for all his activities in Marciac:
July 30: At 5 pm Wynton will speak at Jazz in Marciac’s 30th Opening Ceremony at the Café Musique, by the lake.
August 1: Rehearsals with the Quintet, Jared Grimes and speakers from Sweet Honey & Rock.
August 2: Concert at 11 pm. The Wynton Marsalis Quintet* with special guest Jared Grimes.

Yesterday afternoon, at 4:40 PM Wynton was on stage at Parc Floral de Paris with his Quintet, to play at Paris Jazz Festival 2007. They played selections from “The Magic Hour” and from the latest album: “From the Plantation to the Penitentiary”.
The concert was beautiful and a lot of people attended the performance in the lovely Parc Floral, in the middle of the Bois de Vincennes. We also shot some video clips for you, and we’ll publish them soon in the podcast section.
This morning we are leaving for Marciac where Wynton is going to play concerts with the Quintet, the Septet and he also will give masterclasses.

Wynton is in Turkey tonight, for a two days performance at Instanbul Jazz Festival. Then he will go to Rotterdam for the North Sea Jazz Festival. On the 2007 European Tour, Wynton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra are performing music from one of two repertoires: The Music of Ornette Coleman and Full Steam Ahead. The Music of Ornette Coleman will feature the big band performing selections by one of the most preeminent and controversial innovators of the jazz avant-garde, Ornette Coleman. Selections may include “Rambiln”, ” “T&T,” “Una Muy Bonita” and “Free”.
Drawing from the Full Steam Ahead repertoire, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will play selections with sharp-edged syncopations and hard-chugging rhythms inspired by America’s steam-driven locomotives. Audiences can expect to hear music by Duke Ellington, the Count Basie Orchestra, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mullilgan as well as those penned by Wynton.
Wynton is in Europe now for his Summer Tour 2007 with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO). Tonight we will play in Vilnius (Lithuania) and tomorrow he will play in Warsaw (Poland) for the JVC Jazz Festival.
Then they will play in Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Netherlands, Spain, UK and France. The new dates in Spain (Valencia, Madrid, Peñíscola and San Feliu de Guixol) have been confirmed in the latest hours. Please, check the complete tour schedule for more info about venues.

From today, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton and Odadaa! with Yacub Addy will tour the critically-acclaimed work, Congo Square, written by Wynton and Mr. Addy, to 11 U.S. cities. The 24 musicians will perform the celebrated musical experience that had its premiere in New Orleans last spring. A CD of Congo Square is available on tour only right now, and will be released in the fall.
Today the band is performing in Rochester; tomorrow June 15, they will be in Philadelphia (read article by Philly.com and an interview by the Citypaper); on June 16 they will perform in Bushkill (article by the Morning Call Online; on June 18 in Cleveland (read articles by the Akron Beacon Journal and the Cleveland Scene).

The Full Steam Ahead Set List only applies to the Full Steam Ahead Tour, which is only being performed in the North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam), Istanbul, and the U.K. The rest of the venues will have a different program, “The Music of Ornette Coleman”, (set list to be published).
Also, please note that this set list is not set in stone and will probably change because it is listed as being a “possible repertoire list”. Please, check Wynton’s tour schedule for dates and venues.

We have just updated our tour section with new dates.
Wynton will tour with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in USA performing Congo Square, and will be also in tour in Europe this summer, with dates in England, Germany, Belgium, Polland, Spain, etc…
Saturday night, March 17, Wynton played at Civic Hall in Richmond with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
The concert has been reviewed by the Palladium.
Wynton has been also interviewed about his new album by the St. Cloud Times.
