Yesterday afternoon, at 4:40 PM Wynton was on stage at Parc Floral de Paris with his Quintet, to play at Paris Jazz Festival 2007. They played selections from “The Magic Hour” and from the latest album: “From the Plantation to the Penitentiary”.
The concert was beautiful and a lot of people attended the performance in the lovely Parc Floral, in the middle of the Bois de Vincennes. We also shot some video clips for you, and we’ll publish them soon in the podcast section.
This morning we are leaving for Marciac where Wynton is going to play concerts with the Quintet, the Septet and he also will give masterclasses.
Feel free to comment if you attended the performance and want to share your opinions and photos with Wynton and the other fans.

In 2002, the Wynton Marsalis fan club was started by my great friend and fellow trumpeter Luigi Beverelli. It was a labor of love. Luigi was just doing his thing. At that time i didn’t even know how to turn a computer on! Now with Luigi’s encouragement I will have much more participation with you through this site.
Since its launch, the fan club has become the source on the web for news and information on me. Read by fans in more than 30 countries, it is now the recognized source for exclusive interviews, detailed album and concert reviews, feature articles, video, podcast and more.
From today, this site will be my only and official web site, and you will always find the latest news, performance reports, setlists, new release information and much more to keep you updated about my music.
Love, Wynton

We just came back from London, and are ready to show you new and exciting photos from Wynton’s concerts at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. (The video clip are also coming soon !)
Wynton played wonderfully (even if he’s still recovering from his laser surgery).
He needs to practice more but his lips are getting better everyday.
He has a lot of things to do…he’s still finishing to write the Vitoria Suite, and he’s writing a new book.
Most of all, in September, he will participate to new fan club activities on our web site. Please, stay tuned.

As you may have already noticed, we have just redesigned this site style and logo. The first version of this fan club was created on 2002, so we decided to freshen up the site with a new look.
Lastly, I’ve tested this new design in Safari 2.0.3, Firefox 1.5.0.1, and Opera 8.51 on Mac OS X, and Firefox and IE 6 on Windows. We know there are some bugs to be fixed.
If you find any bugs in any browsers you’re using, please drop us a line here. Thank you in advance !
We hope you enjoy it!

TRENTON - Behind thick brick and cinderblock walls, coiled barbed wire, past security gates and locked doors, the sweet and mellow sounds of jazz filled a room yesterday as seven New Jersey State Prison inmates jammed with Wynton Marsalis.
Wynton said he came to the maximum security prison to meet the inmates, who are members of a group called the Jazz Allstars Band, after receiving a letter from Jerald Albrecht, a convicted robber who plays a mean guitar.

On Thursday October 21, in Frederick P. Rose Theater, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton played a short opening set of jazz tunes that deal with humor.
Some were directly representational (Wynton’s Ellingtonian “Back to Basics,” which portrays laughter through a trumpet), some just sounded happy-go-lucky (Thelonious Monk’s singsong “Green Chimneys”) and some were jazz’s best novelty songs (”Salt Peanuts” and ”Open the Door, Richard”).
Then Mr. Cosby performed stand-up comedy for 90 minutes, using a reduced version of the orchestra behind him to cue incidental music to his routines.

On October 20 at 8pm, the Frederick P. Rose Theater played host to the inaugural gala, with celebrities such as former Vice President Al Gore and actor Robert Redford in the house, and a buffet of artists on stage. Wynton was alternately emotive and brazen on “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” Saxophonists Joe Lovano and Branford Marsalis swung abstractedly through “Tenor Madness.”
Patti Austin mimicked Ella Fitzgerald on “How High the Moon,” and Liza Minnelli broke it up with a rousing “New York, New York.”
