On August 21 and 22, 2007, Wynton will play with his Quintet in Northampton at the Iron Horse Music Hall.
The Quintet line-up will be: Wynton Marsalis (Trumpet), Dan Nimmer (Piano), Carlos Henriquez (Bass), Walter Blanding Jr. (Sax), Ali Jackson (Drums). They will play four shows. At 7.00 pm and 9.30 pm for the two nights.
Yesterday night, Wynton and his quintet performed in Marciac. They played songs from a new poem written by Wynton, and at the end of the concert people tributed a standing ovation to the band and to Jared Grimes. The band also played three encores: Moscow Blues, The Magic Hour and Sadness (Ornette Coleman).
Here we are going to show you some images from the video we shot during the soundcheck. The video-clips from rehearsals are also available.
Yesterday afternoon, from 2pm to 5.30 pm Wynton and his Quintet rehearsed with Jared Grimes (tap dancer) and speakers from Sweet Honey & Rock. They played some fresh new music, never released before…The young tap dancer (24 years old) is fantastic and fitted perfectly in Wynton’s music.
Today, at 4pm we will do sound check, and concert will take place at 11pm at the “Chapiteau” in Marciac. You can listen to it live on Radio France Inter (click the link on top-left: écoutez le direct)
Enjoy some shots taken directly from the video we filmed.
Yesterday afternoon, at 4:40 PM Wynton was on stage at Parc Floral de Paris with his Quintet, to play at Paris Jazz Festival 2007. They played selections from “The Magic Hour” and from the latest album: “From the Plantation to the Penitentiary”.
The concert was beautiful and a lot of people attended the performance in the lovely Parc Floral, in the middle of the Bois de Vincennes. We also shot some video clips for you, and we’ll publish them soon in the podcast section.
This morning we are leaving for Marciac where Wynton is going to play concerts with the Quintet, the Septet and he also will give masterclasses.
Feel free to comment if you attended the performance and want to share your opinions and photos with Wynton and the other fans.

On April 10, the Wynton Marsalis Quintet will play at Frederick P. Rose Hall with Dr. John and The Lower 911 for the “Now that’s HIP Concert” sponsored by HIP Health Plan of New York.
In conjunction with the concert, HIP Health Plan will donate $100,000 to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Fund administered by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, established in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
“This very generous gift from HIP continues to keep the spotlight on New Orleans. The enormity of the disaster is overwhelming, but this timely and much needed contribution will hopefully resonate with other philanthropic minded citizens and organizations. We deeply appreciate HIP’s commitment to Jazz at Lincoln Center through this annual concert, as we both continue to celebrate our American culture,” said Wynton.
In the first half of this one night only concert, the spirit of New Orleans combined with rhythm and blues comes to the stage with the great composer/pianist/vocalist Dr. John and his quartet, The Lower 911, who have a reputation for what they call their “patented version of swamp pop/blues/gospel/jazz/R & B/funk.” Then, vocalist Jennifer Sanon will join the incredibly soulful sounds of New Orleans with the Wynton Marsalis Quintet.
