Griot New York reviewed on the New York Times
Wednesday night at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater, Wynton and his septet played live for a lovely revival of the first collaboration with coreographer Garth Fagan, “Griot New York,” first seen on 1991 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

“Wynton came to us with the music for the love duet Spring Yaoundé,” Mr. Fagan said, “but when he saw it, he said, ‘No, man, I’m not going to use this,’ and he tossed away what he’d come with, and sat down at the piano, and with one hand on the keys, he put his trumpet to his mouth and just composed an extraordinary ballad right there. I mean the damn walls were crying with emotion by the end of it.”

“Bringing Back the Music” reviewed by the New York Times
The New York Times (free registration needed) has jut published a review of yesterday night concert at Avery Fisher Hall.
Wynton played with his quartet and the New York Philharmonic and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
