Wynton to play at JALC 2007 Fall Gala and Best of Big Bands

On November 12, at Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center celebrates his 2007 Fall Gala featuring performances by Wynton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, with special guests singing chart-topping hits of the big band era; Special presentation and dedication of the Ed Bradley Award (formerly the Jazz at Lincoln Center Award for Leadership) will be awarded posthumously to Ed Bradley.
The program continues on November 15, 16, 17, at Rose Theater, where the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Wynton, dusts off pieces by Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and others in a program that aims to please, entitled Best of Big Bands. The highly polished vocalists Freddy Cole and Ernestine Anderson join the party as featured guests.

Wynton to perform for Movado 60 years of Modern Design

On October 24, 2007, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m, Wynton will perform at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (2 East 91st Street, New York) for the Special Exhibit of Nathan George Horwitt Archives and Tribute to Museum Watch Dial. He will play with the piano player Jonathan Batiste from New Orleans.
The event is promoted by Movado, in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and Baryshnikov Arts Center, to celebrate 60 years of modern design and the 2007 Future Legends Awards recipients.

Wynton playing the music of Gil Evans at JALC

On October 25, 26, 27 , at Rose Theater, the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis eases into the lilting, richly textured and deeply romantic world of one of jazz’s pre-eminent arrangers and the master of impressionistic sound, the legendary Gil Evans with selections from Sketches of Spain, Porgy and Bess and more.
Wynton will rehearse the music for the concert with the JLCO on October 23, 24, at Rose Theater.

Wynton plays for the Benny Carter Centennial

From October 15-21, Jazz at Lincoln Center opens the 2007-08 season with the Benny Carter Centennial throughout Frederick P. Rose Hall on Broadway at 60th St. in New York City . Wynton with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will perform the music of this legendary jazz musician on October 19 & 20, 2007. Anchor and Managing Editor of “NBC Nightly News” Brian Williams will host the October 19th concert and former New York Giants running back and “Today Show” correspondent Tiki Barber will host the October 20th concert.

Wynton to play a benefit concert for Young Scholars Charter School

On October 4, 2007, the Young Scholars Charter School (YSCS) will host a benefit concert featuring Wynton Marsalis.
The concert will be held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (260 South Broad Street Avenue of the Arts, Philadelphia PA) and all proceeds will benefit the school.

Wynton to play and record with Marcus Roberts

On October 6, Wynton will be with his great friend and former pianist Marcus Robert, the J Master, and his trio, for a recording session. Wynton is to perform on 3 numbers. No major record label set to release. (more info to come…)
Marcus Roberts trio members include Roland Guerin (bass) and Jason Marsalis (drums).

On October 7, at 6 pm, they will perform in concert at the “Jacoby Symphony Hall” at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville, FL.
This concert is a benefit for a non-profit organization called “Body and Soul“. After the concert there will be two receptions too.

On October 8, at 9 am, Wynton and Marcus will give masterclass at Jacoby Hall for local high school students and then they will be in Tallahasee for another masterclass for the Florida State University students.
At 8 pm (two 45 minutes sets) they are going to play in concert at Ruby Diamond Auditorium (Tallahassee, FL).

Wynton to play at Iron Horse Music Hall

On August 21 and 22, 2007, Wynton will play with his Quintet in Northampton at the Iron Horse Music Hall.
The Quintet line-up will be: Wynton Marsalis (Trumpet), Dan Nimmer (Piano), Carlos Henriquez (Bass), Walter Blanding Jr. (Sax), Ali Jackson (Drums). They will play four shows. At 7.00 pm and 9.30 pm for the two nights.
