Preview tracks from Two Men with the Blues

Blue Note Records just created a special page for the upcoming album entitled Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis: Two Men with the Blues.
For now it is possible to preview two tracks: Brights Light, Big City and Georgia.
As you know the new album will be released on July 8, 2008. More news to come soon….

On July 8, 2008, Blue Note Records will release the album: Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis: Two Men With The Blues.
Recorder live last year, the event was simply billed as “Willie Nelson Sings the Blues,” but the historic two-night stand on January 12 and 13, 2007 at Jazz at Lincoln Center was far more than that. Call it a summit meeting between two American icons, Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis, two of the most significant figures in modern-day country and jazz, who discovered common ground in their love for jazz standards and the blues. Their performance stirred the sounds of New Orleans, Nashville, Austin and New York City into a brilliantly programmed mix that was equal parts down-home and cosmopolitan, with plenty of swing and just a touch of melancholy.

Next album will be entitled: He and She

Wynton’s next album for Blue Note will be released on Summer 2008 and will be entitled He and She. It is based on a poem that Wynton wrote.

Standards & Ballads - A new compilation release for Wynton

Wynton has a new release, Standards & Ballads, coming from Columbia/Legacy. (available on CD and MP3).
The new CD includes 14 classics such as Hoagy Carmichael’s “Stardust, ” the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You, ” Rodgers & Hart’s “Where Or When, ” Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne’s “I Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out To Dry, ” Vernon Duke’s “I Can’t Get Started, ” and nine more, including Duke Ellington’s “Flamingo.”
Standards & Ballads is one of his most accessible, featuring tender renditions and beautiful arrangements of some of the best-known love songs of all time.

Anti-Discrimination PSAs features Wynton Marsalis

The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) partnered with Wynton and New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center to produce two public service announcements (PSAs) on workplace discrimination. Each of the following 30-second spots aims to increase recognition and reporting of race discrimination at work by making viewers aware that it is against the law.

New recording session for Wynton and his Quintet

On August 24-25, Wynton will be in studio in New York City, for two recording session with his Quintet. They will record new tracks for the next album.
