Hurricane Katrina: The Storm That Changed America is a collection of photographs and essays by the staff and editors of the respected news magazine, Time.
The book is organized in a day-by-day chronology of the storm, from the time it swiped south Florida until its devastating landfall in Louisiana and Mississippi, and Time’s writers tell the story of the storm in their reports from the scene.
Among the essays is an introduction from Wynton, who reminds readers that “New Orleans has a habit of tweaking the national consciousness at pivotal times,” citing the city’s importance during the War of 1812 and the Civil War, as well as its role in the struggle for racial equality.
The New York Times has just published a review on the new book: Jazz ABZ written by Wynton and illustrated by Paul Rogers.
