This brings to mind a modern impressionist painting; fields of golden musical sunflowers turning toward, reaching up and swinging to the sun’s unrelenting, beating heat! What brass!

The two contrasting clips demonstrate various ways to employ the modes. Marcus & Wynton lead the ensemble, inspiring us with new motifs and harmonies, by bringing contemporary elements to the Blues tradition.

Dr. Michael White, featured on Majesty of the Blues, often speaks of the connectedness between generations of jazz musicians and the continued regeneration of the art as it is passed on and then transformed. A creative process that entails continually looking forward while looking back.

Thanks so much for these wonderful videos, and for cheering everyone up on these uncertain days. Glo.

What an appropriate title for this song. Displaying the blues in such grand style and that groove is so infectious. Man, nothing but soul!

My earlier comment was in reference to “Majesty of the Blues”.
