On February 14, 2008, Wynton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra played the Valentine’s Day concert at Rose Hall - JALC.

These guys are playing great. Dan Nimmer and Carlos Henriquez in the spotlight of a seeming Blue Moon, that one is “Moon over Cuba”? Later on trombone, Chris Crenshaw’s solo hit those deep tones in the lower register, he’s onto his stride quickly in this band. Well, he does sit right in front of Wynton, must get a lot of wind on his shoulders. That’s one of the longest solos I’ve heard him play. And it was a harmonically clean progression into Sherman on clarinet and Markus on trumpet, excellent voicing. And like whip cream on a sundae, the intensity was on in NYC.

The entertaining duet is from Duke’s Perfume Suite, entitled Dancers In Love. Dan’s improv. is terrific.

Chris was very impressive on “Old Man Blues”, which is one of my favorites from the Ellington Okeh collection. It felt like I was listening to the Ellington band of the late 1920’s.

hola soy de Chile, solo quiero decir que marsalis es lo mejor que a existido en todo el mundo, tengo 29 años y lo sigo de hace mucho tiempo, la verdad es que nunca he comprado material por internet porque no se si me va a llegar jejeje… y no se como es el sistema….un abrazo gigante para el mas grande…
