Wynton in studio to record Portrait in Seven Shades
Today, Wynton is in a New York City studio with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), to record saxophonist Ted Nash’s musical composition entitled: Portrait in Seven Shades.
Portrait in Seven Shades, inspired by works from the permanent collection at The Museum of Modern Art, as well as other music from the history of jazz inspired by great works of art including Duke Ellington’s Degas Suite, Coleman Hawkins’ Picasso, Jim McNeely’s Cockiness and Maria Schneiders’ Some Circles. Ted Nash’s Portrait in Seven Shades is in seven movements, inspired by modern artists Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Vincent Van Gogh.

I just got home from the Wynton and JLCO concert at the Paramount in Austin, Texas. “Happy Birthday” never sounded so good! I said it was a fabulous show. The guy seated in front of me said, no, it was phenomenal. Okay, I stand corrected. Where did you find Dan Nimmer?
