Set list for Summer tour 2007
Wynton is in Turkey tonight, for a two days performance at Instanbul Jazz Festival. Then he will go to Rotterdam for the North Sea Jazz Festival. On the 2007 European Tour, Wynton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra are performing music from one of two repertoires: The Music of Ornette Coleman and Full Steam Ahead. The Music of Ornette Coleman will feature the big band performing selections by one of the most preeminent and controversial innovators of the jazz avant-garde, Ornette Coleman. Selections may include “Rambiln”, ” “T&T,” “Una Muy Bonita” and “Free”.
Drawing from the Full Steam Ahead repertoire, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will play selections with sharp-edged syncopations and hard-chugging rhythms inspired by America’s steam-driven locomotives. Audiences can expect to hear music by Duke Ellington, the Count Basie Orchestra, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mullilgan as well as those penned by Wynton.

Making Your Team Swing…
World renown Jazz artist, Wynton Marsalis, has some profound things to say about business and relationships that is worth reviewing. Earlier this year, USA Today’s Del Jones interviewed Wynton Marsalis about principles found in both jazz and business….

Love to you, too, Wynton. Saw you today in the Griot New York video up in Natalie Rodgers-Cropper’s class at their Summer Movement Institute. We talked about the significance of the descending/ascending jug during the Legend of Buddy Bolden piece. Everybody knew your name in the 13 to 17 year old group. Good hoofin’ to you at the Quintet show with Jared Grimes!! I’d love to see a clip from “Number 8″ if you guys do that one.
Hedzole Baba, Peace.

Dear Mr. Marsalis.
Apart from your music and your orquestra, I would like to thank you for your high humanity.
Is very nice to see you to talk with the young people that was waiting for you at the door of the Palau of Music in Valencia. You never say no, you always smiles. You are simply fantastic.
My daughter, Laura, still has her head in the clouds. She was the only girl among the trumpets.
We hope to see you again next year. Thanks for your music and for the fantastic musicians your bring with you.
My best regards
Elèna Casero - Valencia- Spain

I just found out that Wynton is coming to the Paramount Theatre in Austin in September. Any idea which program he’s going to play, Ornette or Full Steam Ahead? Either one would be great, but I’m curious.
Wynton, when you finish the Paramount gig, it would be awesome if you came down to jam at the Elephant Room just down the street (I’m sure whoever’s playing won’t mind). That’s the home for real jazz in Austin as far as I’m concerned.

I have been seeking a friendly outdoors and quintessential and interesting and beaurtiful place for a senior who has little time left to appreciate much of life anymore. However even with those serious illnesses, wake up to the rhythm down in their souls. Music is the universal language for the severely disturbed as dementia has taken its toll on my father.
Are you just advertising New Orleans or do you plan to blow the trumphet at the weekend in August 2-5?

???? Luigi, what´s the meaning of the above comment?
Is it a kind of a new fashion way for wishing good luck to artists?, like the “much merde!” phrase en francais???.
??????

I´ve tried with Wikipedia, where they explain very well the meaning and use in show bussiness for “merde”, but found nothing at all about the other thing….
