What a fantastic set on Thursday night in Harrogate. A real pleasure. Can anyone tell me where to get the track that opened the second half - I think it was called Due South but I can't find it in any of the lists on this site?
Thanks

Full Steam Ahead: what an amazing evening; the consummate skill of the greatest jazz ensemble in the world evoking the power, beauty and drama of the railroad, from the screaming daylight express to the slow, chugging departure of the weary loco; from the machine symphony of the busy railroad station to the hushed lullaby of the night train. Truly wonderful. Thank you.

Ops,sorry!!!...continue.

BLUE MOON or...a proposal for bis set list today..
and you´ll ask, why?..well............

Today,30th.june 07, "blue moon" will be seen in the sky tonight.
It´s the second time in this month (earlier 1st.june 07)that full moon happens, which isn´t usual (so the meaning of "blue moon").

Don´t know if the title of the song was chosen because of the sentence "once in a blue moon", because of a "blue mood" in the moon, or because of a the real blue color moon can get at times (when a volcano erupts in earth and volcanic dust and ashes fly into the air making moon look blue to our eyes).

Anyway (too much blah,blah,blah..)given the cirscunstance, and honoring this bizarre astronomical ocasion as well as to what is one of the most popular jazz standards, I´ve been listening to Carmen Mc.Crae and Ella Fitzgerald versions of Blue Moon. Both aabsolutely different and both absolutely beautiful.

Which are your/yours favourite versions (instrumental or with lyrics)of Blue Moon???...Any one by Wynton?????.......which CD?....

If having the chance, listen the music and whatch to the skies tonight...fantastic view!.

Tcha,tcha.
Take care.

Both programs are exceptional, and totally different!
Congo Square has a lot of vocals, fueled by percussion. After hearing all the variations of trains, the audience felt like it was on tracks to various destinations throughout the evening. To this day some of Ellington's train sounds have not been duplicated. Have a great summer!

That is so crazy!! I am loading "Big Train" on my Ipod right now. Congo Square is going to be wonderful. Place Congo has this swirling sound inside the horns which reminds me so much of Katrina, and yet this piece was shown in its development on the BET Jazz episodes that featured Wynton's first project with Odadaa. Anyway, may the sunshine smile upon this tour as it did on us at the premier that Sunday in Congo Square.
