Wynton on Ed Bradley
“Ed Bradley was a great American, one of our definitive cultural figures, a man of unsurpassed curiosity, intelligence, dignity and heart. We of course are shocked and experiencing that unspeakable grief that always attends the finality of the death of a loved one. We have lost a trusted friend and mentor. Our nation has lost a voice of integrity and wisdom. We love him and miss him and it will always be that way.”
Wynton Marsalis

I’m glsd that Wynton is paying tribute to Ed Bradley as I knew he would. I, too, am grateful for the contributions that Mr. Bradley left us, and will miss him.
I’m looking forward to watching 60 Minutes tomorrow.

The 60 Minutes piece was amazing. Wynton said Ed loved our Jazz Funerals and our 2nd lines and that Ed loved a tambourine. I hope Wynton will consider coming home and organizing a 2nd line in Ed’s honor.

How can I get a copy of the trumpet solo Wynton played at Ed Bradley’s funeral? I would like to download “Just one Closer Step To Thee” song that Wynton played so beautifully at the tribute. I can’t find it in iTunes.
Thanks.

Ed Bradley was an awesome talent - one it which you would stand taller when you heard his voice. Soothing and chilling was that deep and piercing voice of his. Yet when he delivered a news piece, you could trust that it was real. I don’t know if he had the opportunity to experience now President Obama but to me that would have been an outstanding interview. I adored Ed Bradley and listen to his annoucing jazz at the Lincoln Center on Sunday morning. He is missed and we are bless to have experienced him.
