Hello,

I am trying to find where I can purchase the Wynton Marsalis video which has him teaching young children about music. In the video, he has a small jazz band which plays, and he also has a large honor band which also plays. The director is oriental. One young man plays a solo (Carnival of Venice). Children (about 56th - 7th graders) sit in the balcany listening. It is a wonderful video.

At one time, many years ago, I gave this video to my brother who is now 80 years of age and under hospice care and espected to die within 6 months. He once played the trumpet, and he loved that video. However, he loaned it to someone and it can no longer be found. He would really appreciate having a copy to watch inasmuch as he spends his days in bed.

I would like very much to buy one for him, but am not sure what the name of the VHS is. I looked at Amazon.com and found so many videos by Wynton that might be the one, but I'm not sure. Could you please tell me the name of the video I seek and where I might purchase?

Thank you so much.

Regards,

Thanks, Gloria. I'm enjoying re-hearing his presentation, although the audio clip Juilliard has posted seems to be incomplete ... it keeps cutting off about 13 minutes into the speech. B.

Try Juilliard website... juilliard.edu/about/multimedia_gallery... under commencement speeches, 2006. This speech offers sound (proof) advice! G.

I'd love to find the text of Marsalis's commencement address at Juililard last Friday morning. It was a wonderful speech, wise and witty, light and important, and I would really like to read it. Again and again. Anybody know where I might find the text?
