Nice ad. I don’t recognize the song being played. What’s the name of the song? When will the ads begin to run on TV?

Is it me or did Wynton’s horn look just a little different? More specifically, look at the spit valves. I don’t remember him having handles on his spit valves.

I checked the song, Sparks, but I couldn’t find it in his discography.
Anyone knows the album including Sparks?

Wynton wrote this music just for this ad. So- it won’t show up anywhere on his prior recordings…

Some are saying on other sites that the name of this song is “Donna Lee.” This happens to be the number one downloaded song he has on the ITMS. Can anyone confirm that the name of this song is, in fact, “Donna Lee?” Thanks.

The song is not “Donna Lee”; it’s far from it. It’s an original composition by Wynton.

I have been seeing this commercial VERY often on a number of tv channels.

    Laura,

You can download his music from Itunes. His trumpet is a one of a kind made by http://www.monette.net/newsite/ and it’s an all in one type of trumpet, mouth piece is attatched to it…very expensive! But it’s the best!

COOL, bout time someone encompassed the entire century of jazz into one single advert . No surprise then that apple hired the master of timeless jazz lines to perpetuate their sales….does anyone else smell the musty clubs of the late 30’s ? ,or do you feel that 40’s bop still lingering in the lower register? , how ’bout that signature 50’s ‘rides rhythm’ …thats tight …..personally cant get over those 60’s “pause, jump, rest, changes” that balance suspense, tension and assumption perfectly….but aint it just gorgeous the way its all knitted together, bound by an age of soul, strung by the weave of master craftsmen, “W.M. that line is one of your best ever” keep it timeless!!

I gotta say, that ad got my attention! I have recently really gotten into Jazz, and I saw that ad about a week ago and today went out and picked up his Live at the House of Tribes CD. GREAT CD!

And the song SPARKS does sound A LITTLE like the begining of DONNA LEE, just the begining and jist a LITTLE. I can see the misunderstanding.

Looks like a bach trumpet not his monette, though he is using a monette stc-3 mouthpiece on it….very interesting!
    Regardless- Great AD!!!!
