Wynton, city workers will drop crystal ball this year in NYC

Workers from city agencies that joined in the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, along with Wynton Marsalis, will serve as the guests of honor at the annual New Year’s Eve bash in Times Square.
Wynton will join representatives of the city fire, police, correction and emergency management departments in pressing the button that will drop the ball at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31.

“I am grateful to Mayor Bloomberg for giving me the opportunity to show that in this season of renewal, the people of the gulf region will rebuild and rejoice once again,”, “We need a lot of support for our city, and we are going to need a lot of help in the years to come” said Wynton.

I read on CBS News it’s going to be shown on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC hosted by Dick Clark. Not sure how accurate this is, but I will be watching out for Wynton.
