Dear James and Jay,
directly from our music person:

JALC has a copy of it, but they don't own it.
The best bet for you person is to check with the Smithsonian. They hold all of the Duke Ellington collection.
I'm not sure if they'll be able to get copies of the Nutcracker specifically, but it's worth a shot.

I have looked in every nook and cranny I could imagine but no luck what so ever. for three years I have looked for the score to Duke Ellington's Nut Cracker Suite. We are a non-profit local Playing local gigs. We wo like to
do a Christmas program of Duke's Nutcracker some time in December 2008. We would like to purchase the score but apparently it is out of print. Could you help me get the score for our band?

Can you tell me where to purchase the sheet music for jazz band for Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite?
Four years ago your Lincoln Center Orchestra with The New York Philharmonic and Leonard Slatkin did a concert of the Nutcracker suite. I video taped it and ill cherish it along with my other cds of your band. I play with the Lakewood Community Jazz band, Lakewood, Washington. We are trying to put a Christmas program together.

Dear Mr. Marsalis:
In ansswer to: "Where Y'all At?" We're here! I believe we need to move towards change. We need to vote for Barack OBama for 2008. What a catchy tune to use Hues Corporation hit song from 1974 "Rock the Boat" to become - "BARACK THE VOTE!"

I have been a fan of jazz music since my inception with greats like Duke Ellington and Errol Garner.

I am not a consrevative, so I thought I would write this note to you.

Sincerest regards for change,

Gina Agur

Encore! Encore! I didn't want this one to end. What an unexpected treat and a great trip down memory lane. I miss the septet and this was a sweet reminder of seeing them play in NYC. Thank you!

Wow, Luigi,

What hall is this in? The sound is gorgeous!

I've always regretted that Wynton broke up the septet as a working unit. This band was the hottest thing I've ever seen on a stage (except maybe McCoy Tyner's trio). Wycliffe is such an unbelievably soulful player. And what about that pianist! Eric Reed, one of the brightest talents that Wynton has brought into the spotlight.

A lovely memory of a fantastic band!
