Wow, this first time I’ve seen the “old” group perform in a while; it was good to see Eric Reed on piano, Reginald Veal, and Wycliffe Gordon playing with Wynton again.

Last night we saw “the people” display greatness. Laurence Fishburne, Ken Burns, Bill Cosby, and others answered with: Yes, I am my brother’s and sister’s keeper. Toni Morrison created a bond with my 13 year old daughter by describing the passion, beauty, meaning, and effect of human intimate interactions in a clear, honest, and respectful way.

Thank you Wynton for providing space, knowledge, and joy as we rebuild New Orleans and our society.

I was touched most by Fishburne and Tavis. Touched also by Wynton’s ability to step aside and let Bette Midler say it. Girlfriend said it too! So also did Dianna Krall. (my particular favourites during this occasion)

Abby Lincoln stepped a bit outside herself. She lost a little of the ‘humble’ spirit when the piano player didn’t ‘take it down and let me do this’ Bless her soul- she wanted to make a personal mark on the souls of the people there.

I am always inspired by the Marsalis Family playing. Ellis tinkles ever so lightly on the piano , Delfayo and Wynton are great together and I love Jason’s rhythm. The show went on dispite Branford’s absence.

Wynton collected some funds with a smile but deservedly commanded the respect and admiration of all who attended!

Tho I was not there-thank you PBS for sharing the experiencewith

What a privilege to watch all the amazing artists who performed. Eric Reed,Wes Anderson, Herlin Riley, Reginald Veal and Wycliffe Gordon on the same stage together with Wynton was just one of the many highlights I enjoyed watching. One can only respect Wynton’s commitment to helping the people affected by this hurricane.

Thank you so much for the front row concert I enjoyed immensely Saturday evening. I tried, digging deep in my pockets to try to buy a ticket for the affair, but came up with lint. I have given both monetarily and prayerfully to the fund, even cried because I couldn’t make it. BUT I DID, nad have the opportunity to keep watching. The Marsalis family, what admiration and respect for each other. First time seeing Delfayo- inlove with the trombone. Reginald Veal knows everyone’s music. What an honor for New Orleans. I definitely will come to NYC to Rose Room and Dizzy’s. Plans are there for the nea future. That concert has made my year. LOVE YOU MORE WYNTON.19

give abbey lincoln a break. She is old and has more than paid her dues. I’m sure the piano man was not offended, probably used to it. she did a wonderful job. still humming the tune.
