<description>Me, you are obviously moved by the events of Katrina. I admire your passion and willingness to help. Hope you can find some way of contributing to the relief effort. If you teach (currently?) perhaps you can join forces with other educators. In any case, I am sure you'll come up with something and the Gulf region will only benefit from your efforts.

		<description>You go Wynton-

Wynton has a real philisophical and intuitive sense of being in the world. I often think about black people-how we think differntly and how that intellectual understanding is rejected for its 'otherness'.

Already Wynton is seeing the holes in the media and how the 'fatcats' will want to profit from New Orleaneans' loss.

We see the dire even in the dire (like naming your unborn child Katrina after the storm) where many wihite folks just want to stay on that pity pot! "Those poor people'

He's right the 'story' will die down and business as usual , as always it will be about who stays on top. (Who's going to hold that big fat purse. Some have learned from Sept 11th and that Feinburg cat who doled out the billions to surviving relatives. His big questions (in his new book) are about the ethics of placing value on human life. How much worth is worthy?

I am intrigued by the sense of my being kept back from opportunity to get invloved. I want to offer my 'sense' my heart, my skills. I am willing and able to support or to teach!
As an individual living in Massachusetts- (I have a Masters degree from England and had taught there for 8 years and still find it difficult to get emplyment opportunity as a teacher in this state)

Mitt Romney is even making it difficult for black persons with kind hearts to get close to the 'real' situation on the Cape.

First he said-you must give up more than five days, then, you have to have own transport (So far I thought-I'm in) next day the paper said-you must arrange for your own lodgings- now how many concerned, kindhearted black citizens can afford more than five days off and to pay for gas and lodgings on a voluntary basis?I can't !

When last I checked-volunteering was about time-not expense!

See how whites put a 'spin' on things.

There is a database of 8000 volunteers but with Mitt's request for these kinds of economic securities-he has placed huge impositions on being humanitarian-what hope do I have of getting 'in' ?

I have news for Colin Powell. This is both about economics and RACE!

Keep it real Wynton -

I love your truth and grit!
