My friend James and I had the good fortune to take a class with drummer Herlin Riley at Ronnie Scott's club last week. We know he was due to fly into N O the day before the hurricane. We are trying to find out if he and his family are safe. Our respect and sympathy go out to all those affected.

The most refugees ever in the US, more than the entire dustbowl and great depression. In the city of Americas truest music.
I couldn't stop crying.

Two events gave me hope yesterday. The first was on the news. Dr. Gupta was at Charity Hospital showing how patients from Tulane were evacuated while Charity still has their patients. Someone was bagging a patient who needed a ventilator. Someone has been doing that since the power failed.
Hospital workers were singing hymns!

Then I heard WYNTONS HORN!

THANK YOU WYNTON!
You don't know me. I already gave to the Salvation, Second Harvest, and the Red Cross got blood and money.

I'm a regular nurse and music lover. Daughter of Graham Young, trumpet player, music teacher, and honest man.

Nurses give hope to patients and families as Wynton gave hope to all of us.
