> Subject: Interview w/ Mayor Of New Orleans, PLEASE
> LISTEN ASAP.
>
> I'm not the "email forward" type but please take 10
> min to listen to this
> http://www.atypical.net/mm/nagin.mp3 and you will
> see what the real deal is on the state of New
> Orleans right now. Don't just listen though for the
> sake of "Govt Bashing", be moved to do something for
> these people this weekend, even if that only means
> getting on your knees.....

I just heard Wynton say that watching what New Orleans was enduring was like watching your mother hurting and not being able to help her. He said that how we, as a nation, act in the face of this disaster will show the world who we really are as Americans. He said that we are so often seen as being more interested in those with money or status...how we as a country, embrace and help Americans of color is out there for the world to see. Who are we? I thought his comments were brilliant. I send prayers and love to all.

I am so sad for what has happened to a great city. I am even sadder that because of race and class that so many more people will suffer and die.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and mostly to the Big Easy and those who love it and especially to the Marsalis Family

I am still reeling with sorrow for all those people. I really think no one had been able to absorb the enormity of what has happened - these poor people have struggled for 200 plus years and the reality for many is that there is no first or third world, they will be left alone to rebuild with what little we can give them. This is bigger than anything America has known and the social challenge is enormous. A 'country' has virtually disappeared.
I was glad to read that Wynton and other have mobilised, I could heard Duke Ellington's New Orleans suite in my head when I watch the pictures here in Europe -make sure your politicians deliver too.

My heart goes out to everyone in the area. What makes it all the more tragic is that most of the people really suffering are the ones who couldn't escape the tragedy. I know it's not much but I thought I could help as well.

hey gang.

I know that we're not even close to realizing the devastation the hurricane has left on the Gulf Coast... I'm auctioning off copies of my Trumpet 101 CD on ebay and all the money raised after my listing fees/postage will go to the Red Cross.

I will also be selling my cds on CD Baby with entire proceeds going to the Red Cross.

I suggest everyone here who can donate to do so. If everyone in the US donated just one dollar we'd provide BASICS for these people who are suffering incredibly.

The link for my Ebay auctions is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4764021218
For my CD baby site (more copies will be there within a week or so)
www.cdbaby.com/trentaustin

Thanks for looking and I hope we can all do what we can to help these tragic victims who lost everything. My wife and I almost moved to NOLA two years ago and we have many friends in the area who are facing total losses (but fortunately they escaped without anyone getting seriously hurt).
