Santa Barbara in Pictures
The soundcheck for the San Diego show is going on. I can see the quintet outside of my hotel window rehearsing on stage. Last night was unbelievable. People use the word “unbelievable” quite a lot. But imagine it wasn’t overused and you weren’t jaded by it. It was unbelievable…
I didn’t have internet access yesterday. Sorry for the delay.

“Murph” — the tour manager catches some z’s on the long ride from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara

Drummer Ali crosses the street back (notice his good form of checking for cars) to the hotel after playing a game of football. The teams were: Wynton, Dennis Jeeter (head of sales), Ali (drums), Etienne, Kevin Lee (magician) vs. Carlos (bass), Simeon Marsalis (Wyn’s son), Ryan (Simeon’s friend), Joe, Kabir Sehgal.
We won 36 to 30.

Walter Blanding, Jr. plays during soundcheck.

If you can’t play in the NBA, you can always wear a t-shirt. If you can’t be in the Wynton Marsalis Quintet, you can always write a blog.

Carlos talks with Salut, one of the head guys at the venue.
